The Blue Doon - Mountain Bike Track
The Blue Doon - Mountain Bike Track
Lochaber, the Outdoor Capital of the UK has been renowned for its mountain biking tracks and trails. The Downhill Mountain Bike world cup event taking place at Nevis Range every year.
Nevis Range opened a new trail last year called The Blue Doon. This trail is accessible by going up the mountain on the Gondola. The Blue Doon is an intermediate level flow and one of the longest in the UK. Almost 5 miles long!
Coll put his mountain bike skills to the test and completed the track not once but 3 times! He did have very sore arms the next day but thoroughly enjoyed his time on the track.
For those not wanting to head up the Gondola there are tracks throughout the forest at the foot of Nevis Range. Known as the lower forest trails, here there are network of trials and grades that are suitable for all abilities.
I am now supposed to know what Coll means when he says, “from the blue doon we went on to the puggy line!”
A great day out for the family in the good Scottish Highlands fresh air. If you don’t fancy getting on a bike and joining in, you can always enjoy the calmer slower pace of walking the forest trails – just watch out for bikes passing!
